A Comprehensive Guide To Navigating Hongyadong, Chongqing

Hongyadong, or Hongya Cave, is one of the most mesmerizing attractions in Chongqing, often dazzling first-time visitors with its unique architecture and vibrant atmosphere. However, navigating this magical city can be daunting, especially for newcomers. To simplify your visit, I’ve compiled three primary routes to help you easily find your way to and from Hongyadong. Whether you’re looking to capture stunning photos, reach nearby attractions, or simply explore, this guide has you covered!

Route 1: From Hongyadong 11th Floor to Qiansimen Bridge

For those wanting a quick route to Qiansimen Bridge, start by locating the “Dadao Zhang Chongqing Hot Pot” on your map. Head towards the direction of traffic on the street, where you’ll find a busy walkway parallel to the road. Walk against the direction of the cars, following the pedestrian path. You’ll soon find an underpass that leads you straight to Qiansimen Bridge. Be aware that the bridge can get crowded, especially as you approach. As you reach the mid-point of the bridge, take your time to snap some beautiful photos—but remember to hold onto your phone securely for safety!

Route 2: From Hongyadong 11th Floor to 1st Floor (A Cheeky Shortcut)

If you’re looking for a more unconventional route, you can enter through the Hongyadong Grand Hotel. At the entrance, security will ask for your room key; however, if you mention you want to buy tickets for the Yangtze River cruise, they may let you in without a room key. Once inside, take the elevator down to the 4th floor. After exiting, look to your right to find elevator 78, which will take you down to the -1 floor. Upon exiting, turn left and head towards the waterfront. Walk straight until you find the stairs that lead up to the first floor, and you’ll emerge directly across from Hongyadong on the street.

Route 3: From Hongyadong 1st Floor to Jiefangbei (Taxi Tips)

Avoid hailing a taxi directly from the first floor of Hongyadong, as it can be extremely challenging due to heavy traffic. Instead, I recommend a hassle-free alternative. Use your phone to navigate to the Chuangfu Center. With your back to Qiansimen Bridge, walk straight for a few hundred meters until you reach the Chuangfu Center. Once there, enter Building B and take the elevator to the 22nd floor. You’ll find yourself at the first floor of Jiefangbei, a bustling area filled with shops, restaurants, and more.
