Chongqing’s Great Hall of the People (重庆人民大礼堂) is one of the city’s most iconic and visually stunning landmarks. Often compared to the grandeur of Hongyadong, this architectural marvel boasts historical depth and unique beauty, earning it the nickname “Chongqing’s Little Temple of Heaven.” With its impressive structure and photogenic surroundings, this guide will help you discover the best photo spots for capturing the hall’s magnificent and intricate designs.
To get started, set your navigation to Yueou Cross-Border Digital Trade Industrial Park (渝欧跨境数字贸易产业园). Here, you’ll find the first photo location at Ma’anshan Hall (马鞍山堂里). Afterward, exit through the main gate, take a right, and walk about 10 minutes toward the China Three Gorges Museum (重庆中国三峡博物馆). The platform railing here provides an excellent second photo spot.
Specific Photography Spots at Ma’anshan Hall
By the Wall Corner: After entering, the first spot is at the wall corner. Stand at the bend for a great view of the surrounding wall and the Great Hall in the background.
Round Arch: Just ahead on the left, the round arch frames you beautifully, making it feel like you’re standing inside a painting. Both the front and inside views of the arch are excellent spots for photos.
Passageway: Walk a bit further left, and you’ll find a passageway that adds depth and perspective to your photos.
Red Wall: The vibrant red wall, along with the neighboring Yanbing Building (雁冰楼), creates a visually striking backdrop.
By the Wall Corner 2: This spot is ideal for capturing full-body shots from a distance or close-up portraits against the backdrop of the Great Hall.
