How to Get There:
- Take the Chongqing Light Rail Line 6 to Shangxin Street Station (上新街) and exit through Gate 2.
- Walk to the nearby bus stop and take bus 346 (it runs every 3 minutes, and the transfer is free within 30 minutes).
- Get off at Chongwen Road bus stop (崇文路公交站) and walk back for around 10 minutes to reach the viewing platform.
- Since multiple transfers are involved, a taxi might be a more convenient choice.
Photography Tips for Nanshan Tree Viewing Platform
Outdoor Viewing Platform: The first great photo spot is the external viewing platform at the entrance. This area is spacious and allows for free photography. A group of people is allowed in at a time, and you’ll have a few minutes to take your pictures. You can also hire professional photographers on-site for ¥45 per photo, depending on your preference.
Indoor Viewing Building: If you walk further, you’ll find a building with six floors. While there’s an elevator for easy access, the glass windows inside can cause reflections that may affect the photo quality. For the best experience, head up to the rooftop via a staircase located on the sixth floor. There’s no obstruction here, offering an even better view. It’s advisable to get a spot early, especially in the evening, to ensure a good view.
Tips for Nanshan Tree Viewing Platform
Ideal Weather: It’s best to visit on clear days for the best view. Avoid days with heavy fog, as visibility can be poor.
Ideal Itinerary: It’s a good idea to visit Laojundong Temple (老君洞) first and then head to the Nanshan Tree Viewing Platform afterward.
Sunset Viewing: Arrive before dusk to catch the stunning sunset, and then stay on to enjoy the beautiful night scene afterward.
Food and Supplies: There’s a convenience store near the bus stop where you can buy water, and local food vendors outside Laojundong offer snacks like cold noodles, roasted potatoes, sausages, and drinks. There are no food stalls in the park near the platform, so it’s recommended to bring your own snacks.
